Land Bank Invests in Local Initiatives and Renovation Projects, Showcasing Akron's Heritage
AKRON, OH (June 5, 2023) — The Summit County Land Bank is pleased to announce the most recent recipients of its matching grant program, awarding $40,000 to four local organizations.. Harmony House, South Street Ministries, JoAnna House II, and The Akron History Center have been selected to receive funding for their exceptional community initiatives. With the newest round of funding, the Summit County Land Bank has awarded a total of $125,000 in 2023 and more than $6 million, since 2014, to local governments and nonprofit organizations.
Harmony House, an emergency supportive housing ministry for young people ages 18-26, currently has 50 beds of youth shelter at scattered sites throughout Summit County. The Summit County Land Bank is proud to partner with these outstanding organizations and looks forward to witnessing the positive impact they will make within the community. By providing these microgrants, the Land Bank aims to further its mission to strengthen neighborhoods and communities.
"We are thrilled to support the important work of these two organizations," said Patrick Bravo, Executive Director of the Summit County Land Bank. "These organizations play a key role in the continued growth of strong communities, so supporting their efforts means a big win for Summit County overall."
