Brownfield Remediation Program
BROWNFIELD REMEDIATION PROGRAM
GENERAL INFORMATION
Included in the state budget bill for state Fiscal Years 2024-2025, the state extended the Brownfield Remediation Program, overseen by the Ohio Department of Development (ODOD). The purpose is to provide nearly $350 million in grant funding for the assessment and cleanup of brownfield properties throughout Ohio. The Brownfield Remediation Program is expected to open within the next several weeks.
Within each county, a lead entity must be established. In counties where a land bank has been established, the land bank shall be the lead entity.
As the lead entity for Summit County, the Summit County Land Bank (SCLB) has established this program portal for Project Submissions that may be included in future applications to the ODOD for these funds. Submission of projects to this portal does not guarantee the SCLB will accept, consider, approve, forward, or submit those projects to ODOD for consideration.
At this time, the SCLB welcomes and encourages any qualified brownfield project submission.
IMPORTANT NOTES
The submission portal will automatically close in alignment with the opening of the ODOD portal, the date for which has yet to be released
Submission of a project to SCLB does not guarantee that SCLB will accept the project or submit it to ODOD for consideration.
Submission of a project to ODOD does not guarantee that ODOD will approve the project or award any funds.
Applicants must meet and maintain the 25% match requirement by ODOD. SCLB will not provide match funds for any project.
The SCLB will charge 3% as Delegated Administrative Costs for all projects (3% of the total awarded amount).
Projects submitted by, or that directly benefit, private, individual and for-profit entities will be subject to an additional 2% fee based on the total awarded amount.
Entities that caused or contributed to the contamination are not eligible
